David is a real estate developer focused on urban redevelopment and creating better neighborhoods. His work has included projects in downtown Indianapolis and downtown Carmel. He earned bachelor’s degrees in both Urban Planning and Development and Environmental Design at Ball State University. He resides in Carmel with his wife, Erica D. Leazenby, MD, and their two children. They are members of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis.
Derek has been involved with Outreach since 2009, and is now serving his second board term which includes duties as treasurer. Professionally, Derek has worked for Huntington Bank for the last 10 years in their commercial banking group. Derek, and his wife Rachael, have been married since 2001 and have 4 children. They reside in Hendricks County where they are active in their church, Northview Christian.
Julie Wendel has been a long time supporter of Outreach. She he has been an active volunteer, planning Outreach dinners and the graduation celebration. She currently works as the Director of Women’s Discipleship at Harvest Bible Chapel North Indy where she and her family attend. She has a master’s degree in education and has taught at Westfield High School. She and her husband Joe reside in Noblesville with their two sons.
Paul serves as an Advisor at FirstPerson where he manages the company’s mid-market clients and plays a key role in new business development efforts. Prior to joining FirstPerson, Paul was the Director of Employee Benefits for Smith Financial Corporation. A graduate of Ball State University, Paul earned a degree in Exercise Physiology, and later various employee benefits certifications from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. Paul is married and has five wonderful children. He says: “Serving Outreach is a clear way for me to live out my faith, support my community, and serve the staff. The young men and women who are clients and the staff who work with them are the magic. My role as a board member is to help remove barriers and allow their visions and aspirations to become true.”
A graduate of IUPUI, Eric founded Outreach in 1996 when he began delivering food, bottled water, and basic first aid to homeless he found living under bridges in Indianapolis. He explains, “God had done something radical in my life and I wanted to make that known. The best way I knew to do that was to go out to those who didn’t know him.”
Eric is the father of three wonderful kids and husband to an absolutely amazing wife. He enjoys coffee, reading, participating in CrossFit, and tire flipping.
Bob Waggoner was raised on a farm in northwest Ohio. He attended Ohio Northern University where he received a BA in chemistry. He worked at Lilly as a process chemist 1978 – 1994 and have been in chemical procurement since. Bob attends Connection Pointe Christian in Brownsburg and is the proud father of a 22 yr old son (Purdue grad and soon to be a Marine) and a 21 yr old daughter (IU student).
Bob became involved in Outreach in 2003 when his church held a ‘volunteer event’ to match people to potential faith based orgs. “I was struck by the fact that while I and my kids had all the advantages there were so many so close by that had nothing and or no one who cared for them. But for Christ and Outreach, Inc., they went thru life.”
David E. Sexauer is the Founder and Owner of DAST Consulting, an IT services company that focuses on helping nonprofits increase their productivity through the more efficient use of technology.
Mr. Sexauer has a long history of involvement in helping non-profits improve their level of organizational excellence and development efforts. He has been involved in the formation of multiple charitable organizations and enjoys making his business experience and skills available to organizations that help others.
David met his beautiful wife Cheri during college. They have been married for over 20 years and have 7 children ranging in age from 10 – 19 years. David is actively involved in community development by serving on several nonprofit boards and providing funding to groups who are active in urban Indianapolis.
Dr. Kimberly McElroy-Jones
Dr. Kimberly McElroy-Jones is the Executive Director of the Metropolitan Indianapolis Central Indiana – Area Health Education Center at the University of Indianapolis. Dr. McElroy-Jones earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership and Supervision from Indiana University – Purdue University at Indianapolis in 2001. In addition she earned a Master of Science degree in Adult Education from IU Indianapolis in 2004 and a Master of Health Administration degree from the University of Southern Indiana in 2013. She has also earned a Ph.D. in Organization and Management through Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota and in 2015, she earned her Doctor of Ministry at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. Prior to joining the University of Indianapolis, she worked for over twenty years in healthcare in the local Indianapolis area. She is also an ordained minister at Eastern Star Church and devotes a significant amount of time in volunteer pursuits, church activities and other community activities. She is very passionate about improving the quality of life of others. She is particularly excited about the work of Outreach and being able to make a positive impact with the teen homeless population in our community through educational programming and other innovative projects. By pursuing work which assists the disadvantaged and the underserved, she is fulfilling one of her major missions in life. Kim is married to Reuben and they have 2 children and 1 grandchild.
